FYI, this story is more than a year old

IT services company, blueAPACHE, has embarked on a $6 million, multi-phase refresh of its core emPOWER network infrastructure based on Cisco router network technology.

A release from the company claims that the core network upgrade will provide the global managed services company with a fit-for-purpose, feature-rich cloud managed services offering for mid-to-large size enterprise organisations while supporting blueAPACHE's ability to automate customer requirements and lower their overall total cost of ownership.

"Our core network infrastructure refresh raises the bar for automated, scalable and secure networks. By partnering with Cisco, we're delivering a solution that allows us to automate service provisioning, accelerating the time to value for our customers. Indeed, the speed at which we can onboard last-mile, inter data-centre connectivity services and aggregation services will now increase exponentially," says blueAPACHE founder and managing director Chris Marshall.

blueAPACHE selected the Cisco ASR 9000 Series high performance aggregation services routers for its network refresh.

These core routers are engineered to serve demanding edge markets and are able to support the applications required to power customers' 4G and 5G service requirements.

Equipped with security, time telemetry, segment routing and ethernet virtual private networks, they also feature core MPLS routing and enhanced port flexibility supporting 1G to 400G and new form factors.

The Cisco technology will reinforce blueAPACHE's ability to scale in line with customer acquisition and growth with a suite of services, including network management, desktop management, server management, security management, disaster recovery management and mobility management.

"Cisco is excited to work with blueAPACHE to provide the latest networking technology as they embark on their national network refresh project. Cisco's innovation in software and systems designs, enables automation to create scalable and secure networks at a speed. This will support the capacity increase that underpins blueAPACHE core offerings and managed services," says Cisco Australia - New Zealand vice president Ken Boal.

The new infrastructure will also enable blueAPACHE's offering in the mid-market enterprise for multi-site and SD-WAN requirements and provide a lower total cost of ownership through deployment with partners such as NEXTDC and Equinix across the globe.

"Despite the pandemic, we've decided to continue to invest in both capital expenditure and people and the new Cisco technology will also support our ability to reduce power and overall IT footprint while increasing cooling efficiencies in our data centers. This winning combination will support our business in the years ahead and we look forward to partnering with Cisco in guaranteeing that our underlying cloud infrastructure is secure, reliable and flexible and provided visibility from the data center to the cloud," Marshall concludes.
