HP reveals innovative printing tech at 2025 event

Today

HP has introduced new digital printing technologies at the Hunkeler Innovationdays 2025, focusing on both the HP Indigo and HP PageWide portfolios to enhance commercial printing.

The company unveiled its HP Indigo Liquid Electrophotography (LEP) and HP PageWide Thermal Inkjet (TIJ) technologies aimed at boosting efficiency and application diversity. These advancements are integrated into a unified software and services ecosystem, enabling print service providers to optimise print jobs according to specific needs.

An important highlight from the event was the demonstration of the industry's fastest integrated book production solution, capable of producing 750 finished books per hour. This solution combines the capabilities of HP Indigo and HP PageWide technologies with HP's Intelligent Automation ecosystem.

Haim Levit, Senior Vice President and Division President of HP Industrial, said: "HP is redefining the future of commercial printing through automation, efficiency and seamless integration—empowering businesses with smarter, faster, and more adaptive solutions. Our commitment lies in equipping customers with cutting-edge technology, providing that every print job is executed with precision, reliability, and scalability. By standardising intelligent automation across our portfolio of presses, we are not just enhancing operational efficiency but also setting new benchmarks for quality and innovation in the industry."

Furthermore, HP Indigo is launching a next-generation consumable supplies package aimed at increasing sustainability and productivity. The company claims that these new supplies can reduce waste and carbon dioxide emissions while maintaining high print quality.

Noam Zilbershtain, Vice President and General Manager of HP Indigo, remarked: "HP Indigo is committed to our customers' success and continually seeks new ways to enhance the productivity and performance of our presses, including from a sustainability perspective. Reducing emissions matters—to us and to our customers. These changes to our consumable supplies mark the most significant advancements in years, representing a major step forward in helping our customers maximise press uptime, minimise waste and reduce operational costs."

According to HP, the use of these new supplies can result in reduced carbon emissions and increased press availability due to decreased need for replacements.

The company's previously introduced HP Indigo 120K and 18K presses are reportedly performing well at customer sites, supporting the shift from analogue to digital printing. Dirk Reinhardt, Member of the board at Limego, commented on the HP Indigo 120K press: "Our beta testing of the HP Indigo 120K Digital Press has truly transformed the way we operate our business here at Limego. We are now able to produce everything in-house with a true offset conversion thanks to the speed and productivity that this new and innovative digital press offers. It's easy to use, the quality is given, and it produces hundreds of jobs per day!"

HP PageWide has also introduced a new setup for its PageWide Advantage 2200 press designed for enhanced flexibility and productivity. This new configuration, featuring a simplified drying system, allows efficient printing across various media types, offering cost-effective solutions for print service providers.

Barbara McManus, Vice President and General Manager of PageWide Industrial at HP, stated, "Our customers value the flexibility of the modular HP PageWide Advantage 2200. The digital press enables PSPs to offer print solutions that meet customer needs and growth aspirations for their business. With the new single-zone dryer configuration with passive web cooling, more businesses than ever can access a unified platform that supports diverse printing applications and differentiate themselves from competitors with high value jobs, all in one easy to upgrade press."

HP has also announced significant advances with its PageWide T4250 HDR and T500M HD presses, highlighting a successful collaboration with its first beta customer, SG360. Kevin Hughes, COO at SG360, expressed satisfaction with the new technology, stating: "At SG360, we are significantly accelerating our adoption of full digital production and recently added the HP PageWide T4250 HDR to our current fleet of HP PageWide Presses and multiple HP Indigo 100K digital presses. We are thoroughly pleased with the exceptional productivity and print quality of the newly installed T4250 press. Given the trust we have built with HP as a strong technology partner, we see the 42-inch platform as providing leading productivity and economics to expand our digital footprint and customer offerings."

The advancements presented by HP focus on providing competitive digital-first solutions and promoting efficiency across the printing sector, driving broader digital transformation within the industry.
