Kiwi-owned ISP and hosting company, ICONZ, has completed its search for a new CEO, which began with the departure of Sean McDonald in June (read the story here).
TechDay understands that Roly Smoldon has been appointed the company's new CEO.
Smoldon joins ICONZ from ICT distributor, MPA New Zealand. The company is a distributor of a number of networking and security products throughout New Zealand. According to Companies Office records Smoldon is currently a shareholder and director of the distributor.

Roly Smoldon has 15 years experience in the IT sector in both the UK and New Zealand. His areas of expertise include reducing cost for companies, increasing utilisation of resources, cloud computing, virtual desktops, licensing compliance, perimeter security, web security, email security, building EAL or PCI compliant networks and managed security. Roly is the Managing Director at MPA and had been instrumental in bringing Citrix, Secure Computing, SafeNet and Wyse to New Zealand and growing them to be market leaders. Roly has also worked with local partners to establish number of Managed Security Providers. Roly consults with large central government departments, banking and finance, utilities, defence and high assurance networks. Roly has an Honours Degree in Humanities.
