QNAP launches network virtualisation premise equipment

Mon, 9th Nov 2020
FYI, this story is more than a year old

QNAP Systems has released the QuCPE series Network Virtualization Premise Equipment that supports network function virtualisation (NFV), QuWAN SD-WAN and the AMIZ Cloud VM Orchestrator platform for deployment and management for agile multi-site IT network infrastructure.

The solution achieves zero-touch provisioning to greatly simplify large-scale network deployment and reduce IT maintenance requirements.

The QuCPE series also provides an open platform for developers to submit their own VNF and applications, enabling a Software-defined Service Ecosystem.

The QuCPE series features Intel Xeon, Intel Core and Intel Pentium processors and supports hardware network acceleration technologies such as Intel QuickAssist Technology (Intel QAT) to provide high-performance network services.

With Intel QAT, the QuCPE series is able to increase the overall performance by 30%, while enhancing data protection capabilities.

By installing an SR-IOV compatible PCIe NIC card, the bandwidth resources from a physical network card can be allocated directly to VMs, ensuring reliable VM network efficiency.

The QuCPE solution leverages the converged edge reference architecture (CERA) from Intel for an optimised service infrastructure that supports vision and inference workloads with OpenVINO as well as 5G and MEC capabilities at the edge with Open Network Edge Services Software (OpenNESS).

The interface facilitates large-scale network management and enables fast boot-up to increase service uptime.

By supporting data plane development kit (DPDK) optimised for multicore Intel CPUs, the QuCPE series also boosts packet processing, performance, flexibility and throughput.

"We are delighted to work closely with Intel as we introduce the QuCPE Network Virtualization Premise Equipment series based on Intel technologies to assist enterprises and ISP industries in deploying the modern agile IT infrastructure," says QNAP co-founder Teddy Kuo.

"With its Zero Touch Provisioning and software-defined service ecosystem platform, the QuCPE series achieves highly-efficient and secure network virtualisation deployment, thus offering a game-changing solution in the new networking era.

Catering to businesses expanding into remote working and multi-site operations, the QuCPE series has assisted in deploying large-scale highly resilient distributed workforce networks.

AMIZ Cloud enables systems to be flexibly deployed as virtual machines and accessed from multiple remote locations, which headquarter-based IT staff to centrally manage and remotely troubleshoot issues.

The QuCPE series provides reliable service uptime to boost multi-site IT deployment and management efficiency.

The QuCPE series provides an AMIZ Marketplace, allowing managed service providers, independent software vendors, and business organisations to easily install and update the VNF and apps in the QuCPE series from the cloud.

The AMIZ Marketplace features well-rounded licensing and payment services to provide software developers a user-friendly and collaborative ecosystem to foster greater business innovation with QNAP.
