VMware allures APJ channel veteran to take the reins
VMware has announced the appointment of Uma Thana Balasingam to join its ranks.
Effective immediately - with her first day being Monday this week - Balasingam will take on the role of vice president for VMware’s partner business in Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ).
VMware Asia Pacific senior vice president Duncan Hewett says Balasingam will be tasked with driving the company’s APJ channel strategy, working closely with its ecosystem of solution providers, distributors, OEMs, and telecommunications partners.
''Uma has a great track record in Asia Pacific working with a diverse set of partners, in both mature and emerging industries, to help drive new solutions and innovation with our mutual customers,'' says Hewett.
“We’re excited to welcome her to the team as we deploy exciting new solutions for customers in hybrid, private and public cloud, as well as in networking and security and digital workspace.''
Balasingam comes to VMware equipped with more than 18 years’ experience in business and strategic channels development in APJ, having most recently holding the role of APJ channels and sales vice president for Riverbed.
Prior to that, she spent almost eight years at EMC in various senior leadership roles that included new product sales, alliances, acquisitions, channels sales, strategy & planning. Earlier in her career, she worked with Brocade, IBM, and started her career as a systems engineer.
Balasingam has blazed a trail in her career having being recognised in May 2018 in CRN’s ‘The Most Powerful Women of the Channel’ global list. She is a proponent of gender diversity, having co-founded Lean In Singapore and founded Lean In Women in Technology Asia & Women In Technology Singapore, which has more than 1,000 members today.
