Apptio and Protiviti partner to control cloud infrastructure spending
Mon, 9th Oct 2023

Apptio, the leading technology spend and value management company, has announced a strategic partnership with business and technology consulting firm, Protiviti Australia. The collaboration aims to help local enterprises and upper mid-market organisations establish stronger controls over their cloud infrastructure spending, a crucial factor amidst ongoing economic challenges.

The partnership paves the way for joint customers to utilise Apptio's cloud cost optimisation solution, Cloudability, alongside its IT financial management platform, ApptioOne. When fused with Protiviti's deep advisory and technology consulting experience, organisations can gain more granular visibility over their IT and cloud investments, reduce costs, and extract greater business value from their spend.

The collaboration will provide new opportunities for cloud services resellers, managed services providers, and systems integrators to expand their solutions. This will occur by utilising the combined capabilities of Apptio and Protiviti, thereby building an offering that delivers more control and cost-saving measures.

Marie Nalty, Channel and Alliances Lead for Asia-Pacific at Apptio, acknowledged the ongoing struggle many businesses face. "Many enterprises and large mid-market organisations are still reeling in excess spend – a hangover from post-COVID strategies which are expediting the move to the cloud. This partnership will put joint customers in a stronger position to weather the storm and divert funds to where it really matters through Protiviti's expansive consulting experience and Apptio's comprehensive cost management capabilities."

Nalty elaborated on the partnership’s aims. "Our goal is to enable customers to establish financial operations (FinOps) that remove the mystery of cloud spend through data, and paving the way to holistic Technology Business Management (TBM) frameworks".

The partnership comes at a crucial time as companies face increased financial pressure and the need for cost-effective digital transformations. Nalty pointed out the concerns of several industries, including Federal and State Government, financial services, telecommunications and higher education, who could benefit significantly from their services.

Managing Director for Enterprise Cloud and Technology Consulting at Protiviti Australia, Alexander Setchin, noted the challenges faced when transitioning finances to the cloud. "Transferring spend from CapEx to OpEx is an ongoing struggle, and typically comes with mixed results and significant waste," Setchin said. "Through our partnership with Apptio, we will help customers build an organisational culture of financial accountability to tackle the many variables in cloud costs, and ensure their teams can collaborate to maximise the outcomes they get for every dollar spent."

Apptio, renowned as a trusted leader in FinOps and Technology Business Management, is committed to empowering leaders to cut costs and redirect investments towards digital innovation. By joining forces with Protiviti, a global consulting firm revered for its expertise, objective insights, and tailored approach, businesses can strengthen their financial futures in an increasingly digital landscape.
