Boomi expands API management with strategic acquisitions
Boomi, a player in intelligent integration and automation, has announced its acquisition of APIIDA's federated API management business and Cloud Software Group's API management assets. These strategic moves will empower enterprises with an end-to-end platform for managing API sprawl robustly and securely.
Steve Lucas, CEO of Boomi, said, "APIs are the backbone of modern software and application development and have become a cornerstone of modern architectures that enable businesses to stay agile and compete effectively."
"However, cloud adoption and the explosive growth of APIs have disrupted traditional IT infrastructures. With these acquisitions, we are putting an end to operational overhead and API sprawl by offering a robust, enterprise-grade, and federated API management solution, giving customers the ability to quickly provision, discover, secure, and infinitely scale in one end-to-end enterprise platform."
The APIIDA Federated API Management offering will play a key role in Boomi's expanded portfolio. The API Control Plane from APIIDA now enables enterprises to discover, govern, and provision APIs from a single centralised location, encompassing APIs managed through various vendor gateways. This federated system allows for vendor-agnostic management of the entire API lifecycle, ensuring a consistent consumer experience and governance across all APIs.
By employing federated API management, Boomi aims to streamline complexities and reduce costs associated with managing APIs across multiple cloud-based and on-premises gateways. The unified access simplifies API consumption for developers, accelerating the time-to-market for new applications. Additionally, this centralised approach enhances security and governance, providing total visibility and control over all APIs.
Jaime Ryan, Vice President of Product for API Management at Boomi, explained, "Companies that rely on a manual, fragmented approach to registering, managing, and publishing APIs across distributed platforms risk having those APIs be undiscovered, overlooked, and hence unadopted by users and applications that could benefit from them."
"To successfully enable digital transformation, businesses need a proven, reliable way to connect applications and other data sources. With federated API management, customers will be able to reduce time to value with a single control plane for wherever APIs are deployed, providing better discovery, governance, and collaboration while making existing APIs more visible, subscribable, and consumable."
Further accelerating Boomi's API management aspirations is its acquisition of API management assets from Cloud Software Group. These assets offer enterprise-grade scalability and security, catering to the stringent demands of industries such as travel, retail, tech, finance, and healthcare. Developed by a team integral to the advent of the API economy, these assets support the Boomi Enterprise Platform to meet high-performance and security standards required by some of the world's largest organisations.
The two acquisitions mark a significant enhancement in Boomi's capabilities, positioning the company to better serve its extensive global customer base and accelerating digital transformation efforts across various sectors. Boomi's integrated platform aims to be a one-stop solution for enterprises looking to manage their API ecosystems effectively.
