Can HP NZ get Emirates Team NZ over the line?

18 May 16

America’s Cup contender Emirates Team NZ has selected HP NZ to deliver technology solutions to help drive performance in the 35th Louis Vuitton America’s Cup, to be held in Bermuda in 2017.

The partnership will see HP provide its premium computing devices, including the HP ZBook workstations and EliteBook series, as well as performance engineering solutions to Emirates Team New Zealand. HP will work with Emirates Team New Zealand engineers to help maximise the team’s performance throughout the America’s Cup World Series in the lead-up to Bermuda.

Details of what the partnership is worth have not been disclosed.

“To have HP join us as an official supplier is a landmark step for the team,” says Emirates Team New Zealand chief executive Grant Dalton.

“We have an onshore group of performance engineers and software experts constantly assessing our boat and its external conditions for slight gains, which could shave crucial seconds off as it moves around the track,” he says.

“HP’s technology and expertise will enable us to bring our skills and experience to the fore.”

Maddy Simpson, head of marketing for HP NZ, says Kiwis love the America’s Cup, and the partnership will help enhance the New Zealand team’s performance.

“New Zealanders love the America’s Cup and we are excited about HP's partnership with Emirates Team New Zealand,” she says.

“HP has always been at the forefront of innovation, and our technology will allow Emirates Team New Zealand to build a dynamic environment to enhance its team's performance both on-and-off the water.”
