Dropbox strengthens security with raft of new partnerships
Dropbox has forged new partnerships and integrations that will give Dropbox Business customers access to advanced security features.
Dropbox is partnering with Google Cloud Identity, BetterCloud, Coronet, Proofpoint, and SailPoint, all of which have built integrations to support Dropbox Business.
The management and visibility tools provided by each of these partners complement native Dropbox Business security features already designed to serve the smallest business to the largest Fortune 500 company.
Business collaboration today happens everywhere, in and out of the office, and across multiple devices.
It also occurs across teams and organisations in different countries and industries with unique security requirements.
Protecting content in these varied environments is one of the reasons Dropbox Business has been deployed in companies around the world.
"Businesses today are using multiple tools to protect their content, and we're making it easier for them to securely deploy Dropbox alongside their existing security standards," says Dropbox SVP of engineering, product and design Quentin Clark
"As employees work remotely and teams change, businesses will have the peace of mind of knowing their content will always be secure with Dropbox.
With integrations among these new partner capabilities, admins can more easily control identity access, govern data, manage devices, and oversee security processes when employees and teams use Dropbox.
Specifically, these integrations will help businesses in the following ways:
-
Google Cloud Identity - manage access to Dropbox Business accounts as employees join, move, or leave an organisation.
With single sign-on (SSO), users can access their Dropbox accounts using Google login credentials, while staying protected through multi-factor authentication, including the Google Authenticator app and Titan Security Keys.
-
BetterCloud - develop custom workflows with automated insights, alerts, and actions to govern teams' usage of Dropbox.
These custom workflows can be used to manage employee on-and off-boarding, automate the transfer or removal of files based on team membership changes, monitor shifts in file and folder settings to auto-revert public files to private, changes in team administrator privileges, and more.
-
Coronet - easily secure data in Dropbox Business by managing content sharing permissions, potential virus vulnerabilities and suspicious behaviour.
Automatically control sensitive data and address governmental privacy regulations and insurance requirements.
-
Proofpoint - create data loss prevention policies to manage file content in Dropbox Business.
Proofpoint's integration will help to detect accounts at risk of breach and identify and quarantine potential file risks in real-time, through sandboxing, threat intelligence, and analytics capabilities.
-
SailPoint - oversee and streamline who accesses data in Dropbox Business, identifying and monitoring sensitive data, and preventing malicious behaviour or data risk due to compromised access to content and files stored in Dropbox.
These integrations are expected to be available to Dropbox Business customers by the end of 2018.
