HTC releases Windows Phone 8S across NZ

07 Dec 2012

HTC has unveiled the Windows Phone 8S, featuring Microsoft's new operating system.

The mobile innovation and design company says the device combines design, studio-quality sound with Beats Audio and "world class camera capabilities."

Featuring an industrial slim design, the device encompasses scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass and a clear screen, leading Microsoft to announce the Windows Phone 8 by HTC devices as the “signature” Windows phones.

This means the Windows Phone 8S by HTC will be used as one of the first devices of choice by Microsoft whenever the Windows Phone 8 platform needs to be showcased.

“Microsoft announcing our Windows Phone 8 devices as the “signature” Windows Phone 8 smartphones really demonstrates the strength of our products” says Ben Hodgson, Country Manager, HTC ANZ.

“The Windows Phone 8S by HTC is one of the Windows device with Beats Audio providing consumers with a premium audio experience and dynamic sound.

"Unique in style, consumers now can choose from the two colours to best suit their lifestyle and personal style.”

Key features include:

Iconic Design

The Windows Phone 8S by HTC feature a rectangular unibody with gently rounded corners, a sheet of Gorilla Glass, coming in a range of colours in a premium matte finish.

"Designed to amaze", the smartphone features a 4 inch display, weighing 113 grams with battery.

Capture and Share Your World

A physical camera button, accessible even from the lock screen, lets you instantly point, shoot and share images from the 5mp, 720p autoflash camera.

Sound with Beats Audio

Beats Audio provides authentic, studio-quality sound that delivers the spirit of the original recording. HTC says their Windows Phone 8S is one of the Windows device to feature Beats Audio.

Boasting a bright super LCD 4” screen with Gorilla Glass, users can see the Windows Phone Live Tiles, and every message and photo, with crystal clarity and sparkling colour.

With the Windows Phone Store and Xbox Live, it is easier than ever to enjoy the latest video, music and games on the move.

Better for Business

HTC says business customers will enjoy "seamless integration with Microsoft back office applications and automatic configuration for simple set up."

With Microsoft Office Mobile built-in, files like PowerPoint or Word documents will open just as they were intended.

The Windows Phone 8S is available for $449 or $0 upfront with 1GB data per month on a Business Smart Data plan for $78.26 per month (excl. GST) on a 24-month term with Vodafone now.

Alternatively the device is available on the Telecom New Zealand Smartphone Network through Telecom’s partner retailers from Friday 7 December, at an RRP of $449.00. It will be available in Telecom stores from Tuesday 11 December.
