Ingram Micro NZ raises NZD $520,000 for Cure Kids research

Tue, 30th Jul 2024

Ingram Micro New Zealand has announced a significant milestone in its commitment to Kiwi paediatric medical research charity, Cure Kids, having raised over NZD $520,000 since 2013. This long-term collaboration has facilitated numerous advancements in child health research, directly benefiting the lives of many children across New Zealand.

Founded in 1971, Cure Kids is dedicated to funding research aimed at saving, extending, and improving the lives of New Zealand children diagnosed with serious, life-impacting conditions. Over the past five decades, Cure Kids has invested more than NZD $65 million in research within New Zealand, contributing to significant improvements in the diagnosis and treatment of critically ill children.

Over the last 11 years, Cure Kids has made notable progress in paediatric health research with the support of Ingram Micro. Some of the significant breakthroughs include the development of a robotic gait trainer to aid children with cerebral palsy in walking, establishing that vitamin D supplementation during pregnancy and infancy can prevent acute respiratory infections, finding evidence that sleeping on one's side during pregnancy can reduce the risk of stillbirth by 50 per cent, and demonstrating that babies born prematurely at 23-24 weeks can survive and thrive.

"Ingram Micro is honoured to contribute to the incredible advancements that Cure Kids has raised for paediatric research in New Zealand," stated Leon De Suza, Managing Director of Ingram Micro New Zealand. "Ingram Micro New Zealand's ongoing support for Cure Kids underscores our commitment to the charity's mission of undertaking critical research that is tangibly improving the lives of children and families across the country."

Ingram Micro's latest fundraising event for Cure Kids was the Red Nose Day Event, held on 9 July. The company is also planning several upcoming events, including the Ingram Micro Cure Kids Golf Day on 29 November, the Cure Kids Gala on 9 August, and the Rebel Sport 24-Hour Team Challenge from 15-16 October. These events will provide key opportunities not only for fundraising but also for bringing together businesses and communities dedicated to supporting paediatric health research.

Frances Soutter, CEO of Cure Kids, expressed gratitude for Ingram Micro's enduring support, stating, "Cure Kids extends heartfelt gratitude to Ingram Micro for its steadfast commitment to our mission, raising over half a million dollars over the last 11 years. As a long-term supporter of Cure Kids, we are immensely thankful to the Ingram Micro team for their passion for what we do and their unwavering commitment to fundraising events. We genuinely feel that we are part of the Ingram Micro whanau."

The Ingram Micro Red Nose Day fundraising page remains open for donations until 31 July.
