NVIDIA partners with Algorithmiq to advance quantum computing

Today

NVIDIA has partnered with Helsinki-based company Algorithmiq to provide GPUs, marking a significant step in the development of quantum computing technology through this collaboration.

The partnership signifies a shift for NVIDIA, traditionally known for its role in classical computing, towards embracing quantum computing technologies. Algorithmiq has created quantum computing software that is optimised for NVIDIA's GPU infrastructure, incorporating error mitigation techniques vital for accurate and scalable quantum simulations. This development is expected to enhance the role of NVIDIA's GPUs in the emerging quantum computing sector.

The integration of NVIDIA's accelerated supercomputing technology has resulted in a substantial performance improvement of Algorithmiq's Tensor Network Error Mitigation (TEM) solution by 300 times compared to previous versions.

This boost is seen as a significant advancement in quantum error mitigation, which is crucial for the realisation of practical quantum computing advantages.

Algorithmiq aims to utilise this momentum to address significant challenges in quantum computing. The company's venture with NVIDIA seeks to improve the performance and reliability of near-term quantum devices, facilitating the industry's progression towards achieving quantum advantage across various sectors. The advancements resulting from this partnership are seen as paving the way for more stable, cost-efficient, and robust quantum systems.

Sabrina Maniscalco, CEO and co-founder of Algorithmiq, stated, "Algorithmiq is uniquely positioned to further the development of quantum computing applications across a vast number of industries. The substantial acceleration of our TEM solution with NVIDIA-accelerated supercomputing is a game-changer for quantum error mitigation."

"Working with NVIDIA creates a tremendous synergy that is poised to drive unprecedented advancements in quantum computing. We're not just pushing boundaries but redefining what's possible in the quantum realm."

Elica Kyoseva, Director of Quantum Algorithm Engineering at NVIDIA, commented on the collaboration by asserting the importance of this integration. "Quantum computing's future hinges on its seamless integration with AI supercomputing," she said.

"NVIDIA technologies, integrated with innovations such as Algorithmiq's quantum software, are powering the research that's bringing useful quantum applications closer to reality and showcasing the crucial role AI supercomputing will play in quantum computing."

Algorithmiq's collaboration with NVIDIA is expected to yield initial results by the second quarter of 2025. The applications of these GPU-enabled quantum computing solutions are anticipated to span multiple industries, including finance, healthcare, materials science, and cryptography. Algorithmiq plans to demonstrate these developments at forthcoming industry events.
