Thu, 23rd Nov 2023

Christchurch-based health-technology business Myovolt, is gearing up for a massive leap in its global presence after securing a deal with United Sports Brands, one of the world's largest sports retailers.

The New Zealand company, specialising in wearable vibrational technology for muscle recovery and chronic pain relief, has been working diligently to improve its product for the medical market over its first decade. It has enjoyed significant usage within NZ high-performance sports, including teams like the Hurricanes, Rowing, Cycling and the NZ Olympic medical team.

The partnership with United Sports Brands is set to send Myovolt products flying off the shelves of thousands of US stores. It is an expansion that will necessitate an exponential increase in the company's production volume.

The first order request from their new partner outstripped all previous sales since Myovolt started trading back in 2015. Distribution to United Sports Brands outlets such as Dick's Sporting Goods, Academy, and Big 5 will kick off in 2024.

From the perspective of Myovolt's CEO, Steve Leftly, the partnership with United Sports Brands is a game changer that will unlock new opportunities. "The first decade of Myovolt's journey has been a steady, systematic process of refining our product and building a strong clinical evidence base for the medical market. Overnight, the United Sports Brand partnership has changed our horizon and helped us stock our products in places that would never pick up our call a year ago," Leftly shared.

President and CEO of United Sports Brands, Michael Magerman, reciprocated this optimism. He declared his company proud to collaborate with Myovolt. He testified to the groundbreaking tech produced by Myovolt, stating: "Their tech is for real; they have conducted many clinical peer reviews and worked tirelessly with elite athletes from around the world to develop and refine the vibration delivery so that it gets results whilst also being very user-friendly."

The technology behind Myovolt presents a promising solution for muscle recovery and chronic pain relief. The device operates on focal vibration therapy, a proven clinical method in reducing tension and stiffness in muscles and associated tendons and joints. The technology scores high with Kiwi sports stars like the New Zealand Cricket team, TJ Perenara, and the Olympic rowing team, whose members prefer it.

In the words of company Co-Founder Dr. Dianne Jones, the partnership with United Sports Brands results from their ceaseless efforts to demonstrate the technology's potential among doctors, physiotherapists, and other professional clinicians. "Myovolt was founded by Dr. Dianne Jones and Steve Leftly, who developed the wearable technology used on NASA spacesuits, and the 'hot pants' of the 2012 Olympic cycling team."

Their expertise is ready to set the US market ablaze with their innovative wearable vibration recovery wraps. Known for providing up to 3x faster muscle recovery for fatigued muscles following sports or physical exertion, the products bear testament to Myovolt's patented focal vibration technology. The stage is set for Myovolt to shine on a global scale, proving the effectiveness of their technology beyond the confines of NZ.
