OpenText acquires Actuate and expands portfolio

OpenText has acquired Actuate Corporation, which specialises in personalised analytics and insights.

Acquiring Actuate enables OpenText to expand its portfolio and allow customers to analyse and visualise a range of structured, semi-structured and unstructured data.

The acquisition was completed by Asteroid Acquisition Corporation, OpenText’s wholly-owned subsidiary.

Actuate’s analytics and visualisation offerings complement OpenText’s existing information management and B2B integration products by providing business process efficiencies and personalised insights, says the company.

OpenText says, “[Our] customers will now benefit from added analytic capabilities to their existing deployments and a new breed of analytics that provide insight across entire business flows.”

Actuate will be deeply integrated into OpenText products and will deliver analytics for the entire EIM suite based on a common platform.

OpenText says this will reduce the total cost of ownership for OpenText customers and provide a comprehensive view of business insights.

It is also designed to be embeddable so developers can use the platform with almost any application, whether it is deployed on premises or in the cloud, says OpenText.

Mark Barrenechea, OpenText president and chief executive officer, says, “OpenText is committed to leading the EIM market place, and analytics is an imperative to enabling a digital first world.”

“Actuate is a market leading provider of analytics, visualisation and big-data insights, with 20 years of experience enabling large enterprises, the embedded markets, and the developer,” says Barrenechea.
