Orange Business & VMware boost partnership with SD-WAN solution on Evolution Platform
Thu, 9th Nov 2023

Orange Business and VMware recently announced they are enhancing their partnership to introduce Flexible SD-WAN as the first fully integrated SD-WAN solution on the Orange Business Evolution Platform. This is in a bid to transform customer experiences through digitalisation and automation.

The Evolution Platform by Orange Business pools together a secure digital infrastructure with an agile, cloud approach to order and manage services. It provides enterprises with a variety of products, such as Flexible SD-WAN with VMware, which can be accessed via a self-service console or Evolution Platform's API.

The platform's seamless automation and service chaining make it easier for customers to manage their entire digital infrastructure. This caters to secure user-to-cloud and cloud-to-cloud connectivity, as well as voice services. It also enhances end-to-end visibility and assures service guarantees.

As the press release highlighted, the cloud is now the standard for customer experience, with performance and trust being non-negotiable aspects. Furthermore, innovation plays a key role in the transformation roadmaps of customers.

The service platform allows enterprise customers to compose a blend of services that fits their evolving business needs while enjoying the high performance of Orange Business's top-tier infrastructure and global expertise.

The Flexible SD-WAN with VMware caters to modern needs, addressing highly distributed, latency-sensitive workloads, applications, and devices at the edge. It provides advanced automation capabilities, offering an optimal user experience for accessing remote applications.

Organisations can benefit from this, experiencing improved employee productivity, the company states. With options for 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi, or satellite for difficult-to-service locations, organisations can bring up sites faster. Devices at the edge are also auto-provisioned, lowering both IT costs and deployment times.

Flexible SD-WAN with VMware allows Orange Business customers to utilise a global network of Super Points of Presence (PoPs) through the Evolution Platform. These Super PoPs are strategically located on the Orange Tier 1 global backbone, close to the customer and cloud providers, significantly lowering latency for applications and services, and providing required business agility.

Commenting on the enhanced partnership, Jean-Noël Michel, Vice President, Communication Services, Orange Business, said, "In today's digital-first business environment, the demand for a resilient, adaptable, and secure network infrastructure has never been more critical."

"We welcome VMware on board Evolution Platform. Its SD-WAN offering will provide our customers with choice and interoperability, enabling them to build the ideal network for their business."

In response, Sanjay Uppal, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Service Provider and Edge, VMware, expressed his excitement, "We're excited to bring the flexibility and enhanced performance of VMware SD-WAN to the Evolution Platform by Orange Business."

"As a key element of our software-define edge portfolio, SD-WAN allows organisations to modernise their digital infrastructure and monetise their network overlays by reducing networking infrastructure, providing zero trust and zero-touch pull-based capabilities and network programmability. Together with Orange Business, we will provide a more secure, reliable and scalable connectivity to organisations of all sizes across all industries."
