Pax8 acquires NZ cloud company Umbrellar
Pax8 has recently acquired New Zealand cloud company Umbrellar in a move that will expand Pax8's footprint in the region and empower its fast-growing partner base.
The new development aims to accelerate digital transformation locally and globally, with Pax8's partners now having access to a wealth of technical expertise and professional services from Umbrellar.
Pax8 says the company is excited to welcome new employees from Umbrellar who bring knowledge and skills that will help drive digital transformation initiatives and services in Aotearoa and globally.
"We are excited to welcome 50 new employees from Umbrellar to the Pax8 Asia team," says Pax8 Asia SVP Chris Sharp.
"The team at Umbrellar are experts in cloud-enabling businesses in New Zealand, and they are the number one service provider of Microsoft cloud in the market. With a focus on infrastructure managed services, assessment, migration, and optimisation, their technical expertise and award-winning professional services will prove to be a value-add for Pax8 partners."
Umbrellar is headquartered in Auckland, and the company has stated that its mission is to deliver the technology for tomorrow's world to its partners' professional services and its procurement platform. As a leading Microsoft cloud provider, the company was also named Microsoft NZ Partner of the Year in 2019.
"We are thrilled about the opportunity this acquisition creates for our people, partners, and mutual customers," says Umbrellar CEO Dave Howden.
"As a premium Microsoft CSP in New Zealand, and with what I consider the most talented Microsoft engineering team in the region, I'm excited we can continue to support our ecosystem of partners and customers here in NZ and now extend globally as part of the Pax8 Asia team."
On LinkedIn, Holden also thanked his team for their hard work to conclude the deal, along with prior shareholder Pencarrow Private Equity. It was also revealed on LinkedIn that Umbrellar's mycsp.io self-service procurement platform has been included in the deal.
Pax8 CEO John Street reaffirmed that Umbrellar will play a crucial role in enhancing the New Zealand market expansion, and he believes it will help businesses in the APAC region thrive when implementing new digital solutions.
"As we continue to expand into the APAC region, the Umbrellar acquisition will be key to our growth in the New Zealand market," he says.
"Together, our technology, people, and resources will enable businesses in the APAC region to modernise, digitally transform, and fuel growth with cloud solutions."
