Pure Storage earns Leader position in Gartner quadrant for third year
Wed, 8th Nov 2023

Pure Storage, the IT company specialising in advanced data storage technology and services, has been recognised as a Leader in the 2023 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Distributed File Systems and Object Storage for its 'Completeness of Vision' and 'Ability to Execute'.

This marks the third consecutive year that the company has been praised for its remarkable performance in a rapidly expanding storage market for unstructured data.

The FlashBlade portfolio, first introduced by Pure Storage in 2017, has experienced significant growth. It provides global enterprises with an advanced, consolidated, scale-out platform known for delivering efficiency, simplicity, and performance that meet the requirements of unstructured data workloads.

FlashBlade portfolio plays an essential role in Pure Storage's comprehensive, all-flash data storage platform, powered by a single AI-supported management platform called Pure1. As such, it is rapidly emerging as the preferred platform for modern file and object data demands.

In the past year, FlashBlade introduced the FlashBlade//E, a scale-out unstructured data repository designed to manage exponential data growth with exceptional energy efficiency.

This system uses up to 5x less power, while offering 10-20x more reliability, 60% reduced operational costs, and 85% less electronic waste than hard disk-based systems. Its competitive acquisition cost and much lower operational expenses contribute to Pure Storage's vision of an all-flash data centre.

FlashBlade has seen widespread adoption across various industry verticals and use cases, from speeding up the market readiness of new AI services, driving AI innovation, reducing turnaround times in genomic pipelines for better patient outcomes, to improving experiences in financial services. These cases showcase its potential to expediently modernise global operations and maintain competitiveness.

FlashBlade's focus on sustainability is another attractive feature. The FlashBlade//S allows customers to achieve up to 65% energy and emissions savings compared with competing flash-based products.

This conclusion is drawn from a latest ESG analysis conducted by an independent third party. With additional savings from the newly announced Pure//E family, Pure Storage remains a prominent player in energy-efficient data storage technology.

General Manager for Core Platform Business Unit at Pure Storage, Shawn Hansen, commented on the achievement: "Expanding the FlashBlade portfolio further solidifies Pure Storage's leadership in the growing unstructured data market."

"We're excited that the all-flash promise is now finally real for all tiers in the datacentre. Pure's continued recognition as a Leader in the latest Gartner Magic Quadrant report is a strong validation of FlashBlade's success in the market."

The Gartner Magic Quadrant is a significant piece of research providing an overview of the positioning of competitors in a specific market. It details four types of providers in markets with high growth and distinct differentiation: Leaders, Visionaries, Niche Players, and Challengers. Leaders, like Pure Storage, execute well against their current vision and are well-positioned for the future.
