Qumulo appoints Douglas Gourlay as new president & CEO

Qumulo has announced the appointment of Douglas Gourlay as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. In addition to his new role, Gourlay will also join Qumulo's Board of Directors. An industry veteran with 25 years of experience, Gourlay previously served as Vice President and General Manager of Software at Arista Networks.

Before his tenure at Arista Networks, Gourlay held several executive leadership positions at Cisco Systems, where he was instrumental in developing multiple multi-billion-dollar product lines. Earlier in his career, he served as an infantry officer in the United States Army. Gourlay's extensive professional background also includes filing or holding over 70 patents in systems and networking technologies.

Commenting on the appointment, Matt McIlwain, Managing Director at Madrona Venture Group and a Qumulo board member, said, "Doug helped scale Arista Networks from an early-stage start-up to an over USD $100 billion market cap company, making him the ideal person to guide Qumulo's next phase of expansion."

Samir Menon, a director at BlackRock and a member of Qumulo's Board of Directors, also voiced his support for Gourlay's appointment. Under the leadership of the retiring CEO Bill Richter, Qumulo established itself as a leader in Scale Anywhere data and storage management, growing to serve over a thousand customers. Richter will transition to the role of board and executive advisor.
