Rubrik unveils enhanced protection across cloud platforms

Yesterday

Rubrik has announced enhancements aimed at improving protection for a variety of environments including cloud, SaaS, and on-premises, allowing customers to better anticipate breaches and recover efficiently.

The company has expanded its capabilities to provide unified management and advanced cyber resilience across multiple cloud platforms, SaaS offerings, and enterprise applications. A significant aspect of this development is the enhancement of data protection and security measures extending to platforms such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and RedHat OpenShift.

"Cyber criminals won't stop innovating, and neither will we. Our utmost priority is the security, safety, and appropriate accessibility of our customer's data, regardless of where the data lives," said Arvind Nithrakashyap, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder of Rubrik. "We are seamlessly integrating new technologies across the world's major cloud platforms, SaaS offerings, and on-premises so our customers can better detect compromised data, enhance the speed of identifying affected data, and accelerate the discovery of clean entry points."

The newly announced capabilities include a sophisticated expansion in data security that addresses vulnerabilities in various platforms. This includes the introduction of Identity Recovery specifically targeting hybrid identity environments across Entra ID and Active Directory.

Rubrik's Identity Recovery aims to tackle a significant vulnerability point in business operations, as Chief Technology Officer Arvind Nithrakashyap articulated, enabling organisations to recover identity environments efficiently after a cyber incident.

Cloud Posture Risk Management (CPR) has been introduced to tackle data visibility issues by automatically discovering cloud data assets and identifying potentially compromised or sensitive data. This tool assists organisations in making informed decisions regarding data protection and backup management.

For Oracle Cloud Infrastructure users, the Rubrik Security Cloud now supports data protection services, initially with Oracle Cloud VMware (OCVS) and self-managed Oracle database workloads. This enhancement provides a consistent backup and recovery experience across cloud and on-premises systems.

The company also extends its support to PostgreSQL databases, ensuring robust data backup and recovery provisions, especially poignant against the backdrop of a Rubrik Zero Labs report indicating a high rate of cyberattacks targeting backups.

With the rising adoption of Kubernetes, Rubrik addresses enterprise needs for cyber resilience through new support for Red Hat OpenShift Virtualisation. This is expected to provide automated, secure, and efficient recovery processes for organisations leveraging virtualisation technologies.

Further developments include backup solutions for Azure DevOps and GitHub, designed to ensure compliance and data protection for continuous integration and development processes. Rubrik also introduces Rubrik Cloud Vault for Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), simplifying the management of off-site archival with highly secure and isolated backups.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 sees enhanced protection under Rubrik's umbrella, promising secure data handling within a unified platform, while plans for a user experience designed to facilitate efficient sandbox seeding for Salesforce are also in motion.

Rubrik's expansion in capabilities heralds new cyber resilience features such as automated anomaly detection, data discovery and classification, and forthcoming threat hunting capabilities for Azure and AWS users. These innovations intend to improve threat detection and safeguard sensitive data.

Orchestrated Recovery capabilities are also planned for Azure VM environments, aiming to streamline and automate recovery processes, reducing the challenges associated with manual recovery.

Turbo Threat Hunting is highlighted as a key feature, offering rapid threat assessments by scanning large data sets efficiently, reducing the time required to pinpoint and recover data.

Rubrik is extending its capabilities for Microsoft 365 with features like Sensitive Data Discovery and Prioritised Recovery, enhancing data protection and recovery efficiency. Future enhancements will include further security measures such as anomaly detection and threat monitoring.
