Schneider Electric honours Pacific leaders in sustainability

Schneider Electric has announced the winners of its 2025 Pacific Sustainability Impact Awards, highlighting leaders in decarbonisation and energy efficiency.

SA Power Networks and WaterNSW were recognised as Pacific Customer Joint winners for their approaches to renewable energy and water management. Partner award winners Datacom and UPS Power Solutions were acknowledged for assisting customers in achieving net-zero goals.

Schneider Electric's annual event celebrates businesses prioritising sustainable transformation, decarbonisation, and energy efficiency. This year's criteria focused on organisations acting upon their net-zero ambitions, electrification, and digitisation.

SA Power Networks, with almost 80% of its operational energy derived from renewable sources, was lauded for its significant contributions towards advancing South Australia's renewable energy transition. Working in partnership with Schneider Electric, the company has implemented SF6-free switchgear and Dynamic Operating Envelopes to improve grid stability and sustainability.

WaterNSW was celebrated for its innovative strategies in sustainable water management, having enhanced its monitoring and management capabilities. It employs various technologies such as telemetry, AI-driven compliance tools, drones, remote sensing, and climate data modelling. WaterNSW also formulated inclusive sustainability policies addressing First Nations' water rights, a crucial topic in environmental and social discussions.

Datacom and UPS Power Solutions were the top recipients in the Partner Awards category for the Pacific Zone. Datacom was recognised for its comprehensive sustainability commitments, including a target of net-zero emissions by 2030. The company has transitioned its New Zealand data centres to rely solely on renewable energy, reduced its work-related air travel by 40%, and optimised logistics operations to decrease waste. Datacom's commitment extends to its clients, providing them with emissions data to support informed decision-making.

UPS Power Solutions was awarded for its dedication to sustainability and innovation in energy-efficient solutions. As New Zealand's main provider of backup power and protection solutions, UPS Power Solutions has delivered reliable power solutions to numerous organisations across the Pacific. This recognition reflects the company's role in facilitating a shift towards a sustainable energy future.
