Spectrum bolsters board & executive with key new appointments

Thu, 28th Aug 2025

Spectrum has announced key appointments to its board and executive team as it seeks to strengthen leadership, financial oversight, and corporate governance.

The company has appointed Billy Aucamp as Chief Financial Officer, Jeremy Foster as Director, and John Marshall as Board Advisor. These appointments complete a recent leadership transformation led by Country Manager Marty Bennett and Chief Technology Officer Deane Jessep.

Financial leadership

Billy Aucamp joins Spectrum as CFO, bringing experience from technology companies such as Navman, Fusion Electronics, and EROAD. He is a member of CPA Australia and has expertise in mergers and acquisitions, cash flow optimisation, and group reporting. During his time as Finance Director at Navman, he managed the company's financial expansion, supporting revenue growth from USD $20 million to over USD $400 million, scaling the workforce, and expanding operations internationally before the company's sale.

"My focus has always been on using strong financial governance and strategic insight to drive better business performance," said Billy Aucamp. "At Spectrum, that means partnering with the leadership team to streamline operations, foster sustainable growth, and ensure the company is perfectly positioned to seize new opportunities in this dynamic market."

Board expertise

Jeremy Foster has joined the board as a Director, bringing more than 25 years of international experience across technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship. He previously held roles as Vice President and Country Manager at Ericsson and Tech Mahindra. Foster also runs Peakbalance NZ, a consultancy specialising in strategic clarity and organisational performance.

"Spectrum sits at the convergence of two critical market forces - the demand for true data sovereignty and the need for trusted local expertise in critical infrastructure," said Jeremy Foster. "The company's unmatched local expertise, combined with its deep technical capabilities and strengthened governance, creates a unique position in the market. Few organisations can match Spectrum's combination of sovereign infrastructure expertise and the agility to deliver cutting-edge solutions in AI and cloud transformation."

Governance and advisory

John Marshall becomes Board Advisor, sharing experience from over 20 years advising mid-market private capital businesses in New Zealand. As Managing Partner at MyAdvisor, Marshall specialises in valuation, acquisitions, and shareholder transitions, and currently chairs 15 advisory boards across different industries.

"Having advised dozens of technology companies through growth transitions, I see Spectrum at an inflection point," said John Marshall. "The combination of strong technical foundations, clear governance structures, and disciplined financial management positions the company perfectly for sustainable scale. My role is to ensure we're building not just for today's opportunities, but creating a framework that will serve Spectrum for the next decade of growth."

Marty Bennett, Country Manager, described the appointments as a turning point for the company, noting the combination of financial acumen, strategic vision, and governance expertise now in place.

"These appointments represent a watershed moment for Spectrum," said Marty Bennett, Country Manager. "Billy's financial acumen, Jeremy's strategic vision and transformation expertise, and John's governance experience create an unparalleled leadership foundation. Combined with our renewed focus on our People First philosophy and commitment to radical candour in our culture, we're building not just a stronger company, but a more transparent and accountable one."

Strategic focus

The new leadership team will focus on several core initiatives, including strengthening financial controls and operational efficiency, accelerating growth in sovereign cloud and AI solutions, enhancing market position in critical infrastructure, building a culture of strategic ownership and high performance, and expanding partnerships within New Zealand's essential services sector.

Paul Tomlinson, Owner and Director at Spectrum, commented on the broader significance of these changes to the company's future.

"After 24 years of building this company, I'm incredibly proud to welcome leaders of this calibre to our board and executive team. Their expertise, combined with our existing talent and deep market knowledge, positions Spectrum to deliver even greater value to our clients while maintaining our commitment to New Zealand's digital sovereignty."

The appointments are effective immediately, with the new team already working on strategic planning for Spectrum's 2025-2026 initiatives.
