Splunk named leader in Gartner Magic Quadrant for 2024
For the second consecutive year, Splunk has been named a Leader in the 2024 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Observability Platforms. This recognition is attributed to its ability to execute and completeness of vision.
The announcement underscores Splunk's innovation and commitment to offering a unified observability experience, which was made even more robust through the integration of Cisco AppDynamics. Patrick Lin, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Splunk Observability, stated, "We believe it affirms our commitment to helping organisations ensure digital resilience through a unified observability experience, even as they maintain data ownership through OpenTelemetry."
Splunk acquired Cisco AppDynamics following Cisco's acquisition of Splunk on 18 March 2024. Lin noted, "With the considerable capabilities of Cisco AppDynamics now incorporated into our observability portfolio, customers have access to unparalleled visibility across their IT environments, whether on-premises, hybrid and multi-cloud, and a standardised approach to harness real-time insights for faster, more accurate detection, investigation and response."
The Splunk Observability Platform comprises the Splunk Observability Cloud, Splunk Platform, and Splunk IT Service Intelligence. Lin detailed how the platform is tailored for a variety of use cases, including application health, performance monitoring, and cybersecurity monitoring. He highlighted the system's unique ability to perform funnel analysis and its support for attack detection and mitigation as standout features.
The recognition in the Gartner Magic Quadrant validates Splunk's strong global presence and dedicated customer base. Splunk's observability platform aims to provide IT departments with a unified view of their operational health and performance, aiding faster and more reliable decision-making processes. As digital environments grow increasingly complex, such unified platforms are becoming crucial for maintaining operational continuity and cybersecurity.
Splunk's platform leverages OpenTelemetry to ensure that organisations can maintain data ownership while benefiting from comprehensive observability capabilities. The incorporation of Cisco AppDynamics into Splunk's portfolio expands these capabilities, offering users an enhanced toolkit for managing and securing their IT environments.
This news marks a significant milestone for Splunk as it continues to solidify its position in the industry. The company's continued recognition by Gartner highlights its capacity to evolve and adapt to the changing needs of the marketplace, providing tools designed to meet the demands of modern IT infrastructure.
The integration of resources and expertise from Cisco AppDynamics is expected to bolster Splunk's offerings. This strategic move aims to enhance their ability to deliver real-time insights and operational intelligence, aligning closely with the growing demands for comprehensive observability solutions in diverse IT environments.
