White hot WhiteGold NZ nails new security vendors
Thu, 14th Feb 2013
FYI, this story is more than a year old

WhiteGold has continued to stamp its mark on the security distribution market, securing deals with both Sourcefire and Fortinet.

Richard Crabb, WhiteGold country manager, New Zealand and Pacific Islands, says the two new distributions will be headline offerings for WhiteGold, which set up office in New Zealand late last year.

The company has snaffled the Fortinet distribution from Distribution Central and will hold dual distribution with Ingram Micro.

The New Zealand deal comes as WhiteGold takes over exclusive distribution of Fortinet in Australia, ousting both Distribution Central and Ingram Micro. WhiteGold has been a Fortinet partner in Australia for eight years.

Crabb says the Fortinet deal is 'exceedingly significant' given the vendor's product offering ranges from the SME to enterprise level. WhiteGold will be offering Fortinet's full suite.

He says both Fortinet and Sourcefire will be critical to WhiteGold's bottom line. Fortinet achieved 40% year on year growth in ANZ in 2012 and clocked up revenue of US$533.6 million for 2012 – 23% up on 2011.

On the Sourcefire front, WhiteGold has secured exclusive New Zealand distribution for Sourcefire's security solutions, including the FirePower appliance platform for next-generation IPS and next-generation firewall, as well as FireAMP Advanced Malware Protection. The deal is Sourcefire's first distribution agreement in New Zealand.

Sourcefire ANZ regional director Chris Wood says IDC is predicting Asia-Pacific will be the fast growing market for security appliances around the world, making it 'critical' for the vendor to establish strong relationships with distributors here who can add 'significant value to our proposition'.

The two new deals bring to 12 the vendors now handled by WhiteGold, including Allied Telesis, Kaspersky, Solera, Zscaler and Digifort, and Crabb says the new signings are 'just the beginning'.

“There will be more added throughout the year. Just watch this space.”
