Ingram Micro goes exclusive with Trend Micro as vendor joins cloud marketplace

FYI, this story is more than a year old

Ingram Micro has upgraded its distribution deal with Trend Micro, signing an exclusive agreement with the vendor which will see Ingram Micro Cloud becoming the first to automate Trend Micro's market delivery in New Zealand.

The new agreement also covers exclusive distribution of Trend Micro's commercial product portfolio in the perpetual license space.

Trend Micro will make its subscription license product portfolio available via the Cloud Marketplace in the first quarter of this year.

Gary Bigwood, Ingram Micro New Zealand managing director, says the exclusive arrangement is recognition of the investment Ingram Micro has made in the Trend Micro business and its achievement growing Trend Micro's share of the New Zealand market over the last 12 to 18 months.

ChannelLife NZ first revealed the Cloud Marketplace addition late last year when Bigwood revealed that local resellers had been clamouring for a security offering which could be bundled with Office 365. Speaking exclusively to ChannelLife, in December he disclosed plans for the Trend Micro offering, he said he believed it would be ‘fantastic', providing Ingram Micro NZ with the ability to deliver one of the most commonly requested bundles – Office 365 plus security.

Ingram Micro, in officially announcing the deal today, says the relationship will provide resellers with the opportunity to quickly bring the Trend Micro product portfolio to a wider client base by accelerating time-to-market and eliminating operational complexities.

“Resellers will also be able to easily differentiate their offerings and achieve greater upsell potential by bundling their own services with Trend Micro and other vendors' products such as Microsoft Office 365 and Azure,” the distributor says.

“We look forward to offering our channel partners solutions that will provide their customers with end-to-end protection from a recognised global leader in IT security," Bigwood says.

Peter Hewett, Trend Micro ANZ channel director, says the exclusive collaboration further cements the vendor's commitment in the region to providing mutual partners with peace of mind when moving customer workloads and data to the cloud.

Trend Micro has been live in Ingram Micro's United States marketplace since the middle of last year.

Its addition to the local Cloud Marketplace is just one of a number expected this year.
