Ingram Micro to distribute robot cleaning range

FYI, this story is more than a year old

Ingram Micro, New Zealand's largest wholesale technology distributor, today announced it has signed an agreement with Ecovacs Robotics, a China-based provider of home automated products.

Ingram Micro Apple and consumer general manager Leon De Suza says Ecovacs Robotics provides solutions that allow people with busy lifestyles to reclaim the time they would have spent on household chores.

“Ecovacs Robotics invests significantly in research and development to create state of the art robotic appliances.

“Most of its Deebot range of floor cleaning robots are controlled by consumer's smart devices, enabling them to clean their homes remotely. From anywhere in the world they can activate their Ecovacs appliance to vacuum carpets and mop floors, in whatever room they desire, and have it return to its charging base when the work is done.

“Many of the solutions are so advanced that consumers can draw virtual boundaries inside the app so that the robot ‘knows' to avoid areas in the home that are out of bounds. In addition, they can control the robot using voice assistants such as Google Home and Amazon Echo, as well as their mobile device.

Ecovacs Robotics country manager Damian Commane  says the company chose Ingram Micro as its sole distributor in New Zealand because of its extensive relationships with resellers throughout the country, its demonstrated commitment to customer service, and its innovative platforms for delivering great value to businesses and consumers.

“The Deebot range is just the start of a whole range of solutions that we intend to bring to this market and we require a distributor which has the length and breadth of relationships that Ingram Micro does,” Commane says.

“It's an exciting time to launch in this country, and we believe that New Zealander's will welcome the opportunity to acquire innovative robotic appliances at a very competitive price point.

De Suza adds that Ecovacs Robotics is another exciting brand to add to Ingram Micro's extensive range of innovative products that cross the Consumer Electronics and IT sectors.

“This is another win for Ingram Micro as we continue to sign market-leading vendors to our line card, from key technology sectors,” De Suza says.

Ecovacs Robotics will be available to New Zealand channel partners from March 2019.
