Lenovo devices group changes up distribution strategy

Lenovo as announced changes to the distribution strategy for its Intelligent Devices Group (IDG) company across Australia and New Zealand.

Lenovo IDG encompasses PCs, tablets, augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), smart devices, software and services, and the Mobile business for smartphones

The changeup covers the distribution of both consumer and commercial solutions.

In a statement, Lenovo ANZ states that the changes are “in line with Lenovo's Intelligent Transformation strategy and a deeper focus on emerging categories

For the commercial business including PCs, SmartOffice, Commercial IoT – Dicker Data (AU - NZ), Ingram Micro (AU - NZ) and Synnex (NZ) will continue to distribute commercial products.

Synnex will no longer be distributing commercial solutions in Australia.

However, in the consumer segment, Synnex will continue to distribute all Lenovo consumer brands across Australia and New Zealand, including Lenovo's SmartHome range of products.

“As Lenovo continues its commitment to accelerate our Intelligent Transformation strategy in the coming year, we are streamlining our distributor network to align more closely with our priorities,” says Lenovo ANZ managing director Matt Codrington.

“This means a deeper focus on our core businesses across both commercial and consumer portfolios as well as more specialised capabilities for emerging businesses like SmartHome, SmartOffice, Commercial IoT and Smart Vertical segments. We are pleased to be embarking on a new chapter of our journey with the appointed distributors, and look forward to working closely with them on the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.

Lenovo is the leading vendor in the global PC market with a share of 24.8% at the end of 4Q19.

This week, Lenovo launched a new 2020 lineup of gaming PCs and laptops.

Many products in the new range are fitted with the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER GPUs, and variations that include 10th-generation Intel Core H Series mobile processors or AMD Ryzen 400 Series mobile processors.

There are two new PCs in the desktop category and six new products in the laptops category. Everything ending in ‘i' features an Intel CPU – for example, the Lenovo Legion 5i has an Intel CPU, while Lenovo Legion 5 has an AMD CPU.
