Seagate unveils new SSDs for PlayStation 5 & 4 gamers

Thu, 19th Sep 2024

Seagate Technology has introduced new storage solutions specifically for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 users.

The officially licensed PlayStation Game Drive External SSD comes in two capacity options, 1TB and 2TB, and aims to address the need for additional storage among console gamers.

These new storage devices serve different requirements for PS4 and PS5 users.

PS4 gamers can benefit from the new drives by building extensive libraries of readily accessible games, eliminating the necessity to redownload files and manage space. On the other hand, PS5 users can utilise these SSDs for recording gameplay sessions or storing their collection of PS4 titles.

The Game Drive External SSD features a high-speed USB 3.2 Type C interface, designed to ensure seamless game transfers.

The package includes a USB-C to USB-A adapter and a USB-C to USB-C cable for straightforward plug-and-play use. According to Seagate, the drive's sleek and stylish design complements the PS5 console and is accented by a blue LED light strip, which aims to enhance any gaming setup. Additionally, the drive is lightweight and portable, not requiring an external power supply, enabling gamers to easily transport and play their libraries from different locations.

The Game Drive External SSD also comes with a three-year limited warranty and offers a two-week free trial of PlayStation Plus Premium | Deluxe, giving users access to hundreds of games in the Game Catalog along with other exclusive benefits.

However, the free trial is not available to existing subscribers, and upon the trial's expiration, recurring subscription fees will automatically apply unless cancelled.

Seagate's new Game Drive External SSDs are now available for purchase globally, priced at USD $129.99 for the 1TB version and USD $219.99 for the 2TB option.

Details regarding pricing and availability for customers in Australia and New Zealand are advised to be obtained from local retailers.

The introduction of these SSDs aligns with Seagate's continued efforts to expand its range of storage solutions for gamers. The company has consistently focused on creating innovative storage technology, making it easier for users to store and manage their data efficiently.
