We.EV to introduce Teltonika smart chargers for home EV use
We.EV, a subsidiary of WEL Networks, has unveiled plans to roll out smart chargers from Teltonika, a global player in the Internet of Things (IoT) sector. The endeavour is set to bring easily accessible and reliable home charging solutions to electric vehicle (EV) drivers across New Zealand. The move signals the company's plans to diversify its charging offerings to encompass residential EV charging, striking a balance in the demands on the national grid whilst optimising EV battery life.
The company's new initiative offers motorists who drive company vehicles the advantage of setting up the same type of charger at home that they use at their workplaces. The 7.4kW Teltocharge smart charger from Teltonika was chosen due to its compact European design and reliability, fitting nicely into We.EV's drive to future-proof home energy connections. Through a special app, drivers are allowed the flexibility to decide what time they want to charge their EVs and whether to use energy from the grid or solar power.
We.EV will offer the smart charger, including installation, across the country for a limited introductory price starting at NZD $1595, including GST. Owing to Teltocharge's built-in solar integration, drivers equipped with home solar generation could potentially power their cars at no cost.
Sam Montgomerie, Product Manager at We.EV, says, "In ushering in fully installed Teltocharge smart chargers, We.EV is setting a new standard in home EV charging. Home charging remains the most convenient approach to charge an EV while simultaneously enhancing vehicle battery life and protecting the national grid as the nation gradually shifts to more sustainable modes of transportation."
Kestutis (Kes) Grauslys, CEO of Teltonika Australia, expresses the company's delight in extending its relationship with We.EV to facilitate home charging at a large scale. He adds, "We are providing drivers with a smart charger that is easy to install, offers greater control over power consumption, and that enhances the attractiveness of any residence."
The Teltocharge comes with a swappable front plate made of Accoya wood as well as another four coloured front plate options. This initiative is not the first collaboration between the two entities; Teltonika devices are also integral in enabling We.EV's commercial charging operations.
We.EV's partnership with Teltonika marks a significant step forward in expanding accessible and reliable residential EV charging solutions across New Zealand. By introducing the Teltocharge smart charger with its user-friendly features and solar integration, We.EV enhancing convenience for EV drivers and contributing to the sustainability of transportation infrastructure. This initiative underscores a commitment to fostering greener mobility options while paving the way for future advancements in home energy connectivity and EV adoption nationwide.
