Photo gallery: Ingram Micro resellers go off the grid with Lenovo
Take 25 IT professionals away from the demands of life, their mobile phones and internet and what do you get?
In the case of the winners of Ingram Micro's seventh Hooked on Lenovo promotion - Off the Grid - apparently some very happy, relaxed resellers.
The 25 winners spent three days communing with nature in the South Island.
Arrived at Manapouri the team were advised by the captain to say a temporary goodbye to their loved ones, before heading to Doubtful Sound.
It was a case of farewell to mobile phones – and their built-in cameras – and hello to real cameras instead.
The three day trip took in cruising, fishing, kayaking and the rare experience of landing at and hiking on Secretary Island with DoC's Lindsay Wilson – the principal ranger for Biodiversity Fiordland – as guide.
Ingram Micro New Zealand donated $1,000 to DoC.
Asked what he most liked about the trip, Plan B's Ampie Vos says "Turning my cell phone off, recharging my batteries and discovering a part of New Zealand inaccessible to most, establishing new networks and most of all making new friends."
